Final Farewell

September 25, 2009

I’m sure any one coming across my blog now is surprised to see a new post up. Well, this is my final post. It’s curtain call for my blog. I had a good time keeping a blog when I first started, but I can’t keep up with it anymore, as is evident, and so I’m calling it quits. I recently lost one of my best friends who I loved very much and considered a brother. He was the only one of my non internet friends who ever knew I had a blog. So, my final post will also be my final goodbye letter to one of the greatest guys I’ve ever had the privilege of knowing.

Dear Frank,

It still seems like a surreal nightmare that you are no longer here. My heart still aches everyday knowing that I’ll never be able to speak to you again, hang out with you and even laugh with you. I may have not told you so much when you were here, but you were my best friend and my brother. I loved you more than you may have known while here on earth, but that I’m sure you know now that you are in heaven.

I will forever treasure our memories together. From all the late drinking debauchery to the times just hanging out watching movies. I still remember the fun we had the first time we met and how I knew then that we would always be friends. We clicked right away from our similar taste in beer (of course) to our love of football. Without you I may have never traveled to New York, Maryland, Chicago, St. Louis, Canada…etc. You were the one that made even the shortest trips fun. Even when it was watching your Chicago Bears trample all over my St. Louis Rams.

You were always the friend I could call to just come hang out and watch a movie. You were the one that helped motivate me to get to the gym by being my gym buddy. Together we managed to drag ourselves there everyday. Even Saturdays…because we usually rewarded ourselves with a beer afterwards. Our bar, Poor Richards, will never be the same without you. A lot of things won’t be the same without you.

I now sit and go through the pictures I have of us together and remember the fun times. We’re pretty inebriated in them because that was the only way I could get you to take pics. But I’m glad I was able to force some on you because now I have them to look at and reminisce and cry. I’m still doing a lot of crying and as I type this I’m crying now. I know you’re looking down on me and telling me to “man up” (silly) and I will. I just need time to be sad and to be angry that you were taken.

I will do my best to keep your memory alive through the game nights, the football watching, the beer drinking, and the late night Wii play. I will continue to make sure your mom and sister are doing okay as I love them like family too. I know I’ll get through this, it will just be a slow process. Frank, I will never have another friend like you again. And even though our time together wasn’t as long as I wished, I’m forever grateful to have had you in my life. And I know that whenever I fall, as I tend to do, that you will be watching me from above…laughing. Keep an eye out on me up there.

Keep a New Castle on ice for me for when we meet again. I love you.

Thanks Vegas!

November 25, 2008

It’s that time of year again to give thanks for the things in our lives. I’ve decided to spend this Thanksgiving in Las Vegas so, I’m extra thankful that it’s close enough to me to go. So, I won’t be around the next few days as I’ll be boozing it up and stumbling around the strip. I will leave you with a list of some things that I’m thankful for.

  • I’m thankful that even though I’m cartoonishly clumsy, I haven’t yet broken a bone this year…even though I’ve injured my knee three times already.
  • I’m thankful for my mom who continues her hope for grandkids even though I’m probably not likely to have kids (at least not on purpose).
  • I’m thankful for the friends who remind me of the dumb stuff I do when I drink too much because I do a lot of dumb stuff.
  • I’m thankful for the friend who drags himself to the gym with me everyday because the gym sucks but together we manage to go, and bitch about it the whole way through.
  • I’m thankful that my St. Louis Rams managed to win a couple of games so far. Especially against the Cowboys, that win was extra sweet.
  • I’m thankful for the paper plates I “borrow” from work and take home because I hate doing dishes.
  • I’m thankful for my camera phone so I can take pics of strangers to later make fun of here.
  • I’m thankful for my microwave because I don’t really like to cook.
  • I’m thankful for my fellow bloggers who keep me entertained with their witty posts and who still read the random crap I write.
  • I’m thankful I didn’t catch the cold that’s been going around here so, that I can really enjoy my time in Vegas. Maybe I’ll do lunch with Wayne Newton.

That’s all for now. I’m sure there’s tons more I could list, but I can’t think of it all now. Hope you all have a great Thanksgiving.

Ducking Away From The Flames

November 17, 2008

Aside from hearing about the fires and inhaling all the smoke in Cali. I did find something else to do. I went to a hockey game on Friday night. It was the Anaheim Ducks v. Nashville Predators. We had great seats because my friends co-worker who gave him the tickets is a season ticket holder. Unfortunately the Ducks lost in OT, but it was still a good game even if there weren’t very many fights.  Here’s a couple of pics and a video of one of the goal celebrations.

This video isn’t the best quality because I used my cell phone…it was all I had.

Today we salute you, Mr. Stupid Name Private Hire DJ Guy.
(Mr. Stupid Name Private Hire DJ guy)

You could have easily come up with any number of names to draw attention, but instead you chose one that reflects gang activity and flaunt it proudly.
(Somebody call the police)

You don’t care what your name implies or that you may never get hired as long as you never lose street cred while living in your mom’s garage.
(Sleeping next to the washer and dryer)

Cheap turntables purchased at a yard sale? Check. 80’s records? Check. Your 13 year old cousin to help you unload your stuff? Check.
(Gonna do the Electric Slide)

So crack open an ice cold beer, oh master of the record scratch, because being a self-centered jackass is what life’s all about.

Rockin’ My Vote!

November 4, 2008

It’s election day! Time for everyone to get to the polls and vote. There was early voting in California, but the polls were packed and closed earlier so, I’m going to just vote today. I’m leaving work early to get my vote in. I’m not saying who I’m voting for because I won’t discuss politics on my blog. Drunken debauchery, yes. Politics, no. However, I do think it’s important that everyone gets out there and makes their vote count! So, get on it people!

Update: Well, I did my patriotic duty and voted. The polls were not packed for me so I was in and out of there in like 10 minutes.

Now, I’m just waiting to see what the results are for the propositions.

How ‘Bout Them Rams…

October 19, 2008

That’s right the underestimated Rams won another one. This one against the Dallas Cowboys. It was nice to see the Rams playing how I knew they always could. Jackson was running right through the Cowboys the whole game and ended up with two touchdowns in the first quarter alone. The Cowboys turned the ball over twice allowing the Rams to convert one turnover into points. They dominated the whole 1st half leading 24-7 going into halftime.

The second half didn’t start off too great for the Cowboys either. Penalties kept them from converting on a 3rd and one and a 4th and one and they ended up missing a 46 yard field goal. And what do the Rams do when they get the ball back after that? Give it to Jackson for a 56 yard TD run! A few minutes later the Cowboys turn the ball over once again and the Rams are able to put up 3 more points. The 4th quarter just added yet another turnover from Dallas. The Cowboys did manage to score another TD in the last couple of minutes of the game, but this game was over for them since halftime.

Final score 34-14.

This was a completely Rams dominated game. The Cowboys looked unorganized and sloppy. I just hope the Rams continue to hold on to this momentum through the rest of the season.

Well, it’s time to officially announce the winners of the Spiderman tin giveaway. They are: Dan, Saint, Mike, and DJ D. I actually have one more tin to giveaway, but didn’t get my final correct answer in the previous post. If the correct answer is given  in this post then I’ll still give the fifth and final tin away.

For those of you who won, you can email me at with an address you want your tin sent to. I’m going to try to get them sent this week. I’ll email each of you when I send it so you can keep an eye out for it.
